Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Traffic Police to work hand-in-hand to facilitate business community on traffic issues

Lahore, January 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and City Traffic Police will work hand-in-hand to facilitate the business community on traffic issues and to overcome licensing problem.

The decision was made at a meeting here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday. Chief Traffic Officer Capt® Sohail Chaudhry, LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, Convener LCCI Standing Committee on Paper and paper Board Khamis Saeed Butt, SP Traffic Rana Shujaat and President All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) Mohammad Ajmal also spoke on the occasion.

The Chief Traffic Officer said that the traffic police is ready to establish a booth at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the facilitation of the business community.

He said that the mobile units of City Traffic Police were already providing licensing facility to a large segment of society and is ready to go to all the city markets. He informed the participants that City traffic police was putting in its best efforts to keep the vehicular traffic on the move. It is providing necessary assistance to the government in the removal of encroachments which are the biggest hurdle in the flow of traffic.

The LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue to provide maximum help to the traffic police in the larger interests of the economy. They said that smooth flow of traffic not only cuts cost of doing business but ensures on-time delivery of goods at their destination.

They said that keeping the flow of traffic is a Herculean task but the traffic police was managing it in such a nice manner that every segment of society was appreciating them. They said that the liaison between police and the business community was a must and the LCCI was giving a special focus to enhance the liaison with police. Khamis Saeed Butt, the Convener LCCI Standing Committee on Paper and Paper Board, paid rich tributes to traffic police for having consistent liaison with trading community.

He said that the traffic police role is very vital in the sense that a disciplined traffic flow gives a picture of whole society on the one hand while on the other hand it plays its role in economic turnaround by cutting transportation time of goods carriers.
