Lahore Chamber Takes Swift Action Against Former President’s Misconduct

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has announced disciplinary measures against former president Abuzar Shad following an emergent Executive Committee meeting chaired by LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol. The committee unanimously condemned Shad’s recent actions, including aggressive behavior and issuing threats, labeling it one of the chamber’s most regrettable incidents.

The meeting detailed that Shad unlawfully entered the President’s office, exhibited aggressive conduct, and used abusive language, including issuing severe threats. Members emphasized that these actions violated the dignity of the President’s office and the institution’s sanctity.

In response to the incident, the Executive Committee has initiated disciplinary proceedings in accordance with Article 14(i) of the Chamber’s Memorandum & Articles of Association. Shad will receive a show-cause notice, with potential penalties including membership cancellation and removal from office.

Committee members highlighted that the incident challenges the chamber’s discipline and integrity, serving as an affront to the business community. They asserted that personal grievances cannot justify disrespect towards the institution or its leadership.

LCCI President Saigol, addressing the meeting, stressed that such behavior is intolerable and underscored the chamber’s commitment to maintaining discipline and respect. He noted broad support from Lahore’s trade and industrial bodies, who have condemned Shad’s actions.

The Executive Committee reiterated its dedication to upholding the institution’s ethical standards and announced plans to develop a strategy to prevent future incidents, ensuring a secure and professional environment at the chamber.
