Law Minister Highlights Need for Behavioral Change to Combat Violence Against Women

ISLAMABAD: Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has underscored the importance of fostering a balanced society to drive development, emphasizing that legal measures alone are insufficient to combat violence against women.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister, speaking at an event in Islamabad, noted the establishment of laws and institutions aimed at addressing gender-based violence. However, he pointed out that without a fundamental shift in societal attitudes, real progress would remain elusive. Tarar highlighted the necessity of ensuring equal rights for both men and women, advocating for a societal transformation in line with principles that recognize and uphold women’s rights, as reinforced by Islam.
