Mayor Karachi appreciates training on SAPPRA Rules

Karachi, January 17, 2018 (PPI-OT):Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said speedy completion of development works can be achieved only when the officials concerned have full knowledge of the relevant rules and regulations. Two days training under SAPPRA Act 2009 and 2010 would prove beneficial for KMC officers and also bring improvement in the performance of KMC. He expressed these views while addressing to the closing session of the 2 Days Capacity Building on SPPRA Rules training workshop held for KMC officers in the City Institute of Image Management(CIIM), KMC on Wednesday. Managing Director SPPRA Khalid Chachar, Director Capacity Building Javed Sibghat Mehar, Deputy Director Ayub Ali Qaimkhani, Imam Ali Qadri, Imran Razzak besides chairmen of KMC Council Committees, Director CIIM Mohammad Shahid and other officers were also present on this occasion.

Mayor Karachi said such courses should be held on regular basis in KMC so that performance of different KMC departments could be made better and the officers concerned get complete grip on their works. He also thanked the SAPPRA officials for providing this training to KMC officers which he said proved quite fruitful and encouraging and the participants of training availed this opportunity to enhance their capabilities that would certainly help them perform their tendering works in an excellent way and this could prove to be beneficial for the department and KMC.

Before this the Managing Director SPPRA Khalid Chachar thanked Mayor Karachi for arranging this workshop for KMC officers and said that this is first time that we gave training to KMC officers and now the departments of KMC would save themselves to such a situation in which funds gets lapsed due to slow processing of N.I.Ts. He said this training being provided in accordance with the SPPRA Act 2009 and Rules 2010 and comprised of latest training modules.

Director Technical to Mayor Karachi S. M Shakaib said this training which is being held on the directive of the Mayor Karachi would help KMC officers in their work and they would not have to bother about the rules and regulations and their applications in the tendering process. On this occasion the deputy director SAPPRA Ali Imam Qadri said that a new Procurement Performance Monitoring System is being introduced and would be operational within a week time that would provide the opportunity to KMC and other organizations to check the updates of their works while sitting in their own office. In the end Mayor Karachi gave training certificates to the participants of workshop and also gave shield to the Managing Director of SPPRA Khalid.
