Memorandum of Understanding to take place with CBC for providing expeditious relief to the citizens

Karachi, August 28, 2018 (PPI-OT): Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh for Law and Anti-Corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab told to media that, the report on desalination water has been submitted and a memorandum of understanding will take place with CBC with definitive and strict time lines so that the expeditious relief to the citizens can be endured. He said that, the committee on desalination water was made by Sindh cabinet in its first meeting, consisting, Saeed Ghani, minister for local government, Syeda Shehla Raza, minister for women development and myself.

The committee met with the Vice President of cantonment board( CBC) Aziz Suharwardy soon after the cabinet meeting and informed him that, Govt of Sindh’s desire to address the water needs of Karachi and in particular of areas of following under the jurisdiction of CBC by establishing Desalination plant(s), the Vice President of CBC expressed the willingness of CBC to work with Sindh government, subject to fulfill the codal formalities.

He added that, soon after the meeting, the committee submits information that, CBC’s total water requirement is 13 million gallons of water everyday and CBC is willing to enter into bulk water purchase agreement with the government of Sindh and committee proposes that an MOU may be entered with CBC. Moreover he stated that the committee is also of the view that after agreement as proposed, materializes meaning thereby complete supply of water by way of desalination, then in such a situation the river water already being supplied to CBC may be used for the benefit of other parts of the city of Karachi.
