Minister suspends Post Office officials

Islamabad, July 02, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Postal Services Sardar Al-Haj Mohammad Umar Gorgaij has suspended the officials in Dharki, Sindh with immediate effect. Ahmed Ali Bhatti, Divisional Superintendent Post Office Sukkur, Mr. Altaf Hussain Mail Peon Khambhra Post Office, Mr Hazoor Bux Soomro Postmaster Khambhra and Mr. Ghulam Rasool Dhondho Postmaster Ubauro.

The persons suspended were, reportedly involve in dacoity of Rs. 22 Lac of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), supposed to be distributed among poor people via Post office concerned.

The Minister has ordered to launch an immediate independent inquiry in this regard to investigate the matter. The Minister has further said that, even the Post Master General would be treated accordingly, if he will be responsible or involved in any similar charge in future. He emphasized that the Ministry will not tolerate any lax attitude, incompetence or corruption in the department.
