Minorities enjoy full protection in Pakistan: Ebad

Karachi, September 01, 2012 (PPI-OT): The minorities in Pakistan enjoy full protection and their rights are protected under the constitution and the law. This was stated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan while speaking at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House on Friday.

He said that Hindus, Christians and other minorities had contributed towards the progress and development of Sindh and other parts of the country.

The governor said that members of the minorities communities were as patriotic as other Pakistanis.

At the ceremony documents were presented regarding shelter homes constructed by the missionary organisation St. Elizabeth for members of the minorities that were affected by recent floods.

Father Robert McCulloch, Sister Mary and Sister Berkmans and some members of the Hindu community were also present on the occasion.

Dr Ibad said that reports regarding the recent migration by some members of the Hindu community proved wrong and added that the people from all religions and faiths lived here with the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

Later, the governor distributed the documents of the shelter homes among 30 minorities families.
