Lahore, November 15, 2015 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that billions of rupees are being spent for the provision of modern transport facilities to the masses as these are essential for speedy development. He said that after glorious success of Lahore and Pakistan metro bus projects, work is in progress speedily on Multan metro bus project.
He said that the projects of metro buses have resulted in modern, economical and comfortable travelling facilities to the citizens and all these projects have been completed transparently while a high standard has also been maintained. He said that like all development schemes of Punjab government, Multan metro bus project will also be a masterpiece of standard and transparency.
He was addressing a meeting through video link, here today. The meeting reviewed the pace of work on Multan metro bus project and other projects of infrastructure development in the province. Shahbaz Sharif said that every penny of public money is being spent honestly on welfare projects.
He said that transparency, standard and speed in the execution of uplift projects is the hallmark of Muslim League-N government, therefore third party audit has been made compulsory for ensuring transparency in the execution of uplift projects. The Chief Minister said that Punjab is adopting a solid strategy for infrastructure development and provision of modern and quality transport facilities to the citizens.
He said that mega projects worth billions of rupees have been completed in the province within a record period for modernizing infrastructure while work is continuing expeditiously on a number of projects. He said that after Lahore, Pakistan metro bus project has also been highly appreciated by the masses and lakhs of passengers are travelling by metro bus service daily.
He said that metro bus system has greatly facilitated the people. He said that work is in progress expeditiously on metro bus project in Multan and an effective strategy has been adopted for maintaining the highest standard. Shahbaz Sharif directed authorities concerned that a high quality of construction material for metro bus project should be ensured as no compromise will be made in this regard.
He said that metro bus projects are a glorious example of utilization of public money on the masses. He said that Multan metro bus project is a splendid project of Punjab government for the people of south Punjab and this project will be a masterpiece of architecture. He said that provision of modern transport facilities is vital for rapid development and Punjab government is paying full attention to this sector.
He said that provincial government considers funds as a national trust and their transparent utilization on the projects of provision of basic facilities to the masses is being ensured. He said that modern transports facilities are not the right of the elite only but also of the common man and Punjab government is upholding this right of the ordinary people through metro bus projects.
Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority, MD NESPAK, DG LDA and concerned officials attended the meeting whereas Commissioner Multan division, DCO Multan and the authorities of Multan metro bus project participated in the meeting through video link.
