In a move to strengthen the enforcement of civil laws within the city, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has ordered the appointment of 25 officers from various departments of Baldia Uzma Karachi to serve as inspectors across the district municipal corporations (DMCs). According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, these officers have been directed to collaborate with the Deputy Commissioners of their respective districts to ensure the effective implementation of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013, as amended in 2023. The inspectors will be reporting monthly to the Director of the Enforcement and Implementation Department. They are strategically placed in key areas across Karachi: officers from Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, and Model Colony Town will assist the Deputy Commissioner of Korangi, while those from North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Gulbarg, and Nazimabad Town will work under the Deputy Commissioner Central. The resolution of this appointment was passed under KMC Council Resolution
No. 9 on December 7, 2023. The selected officers were previously awaiting placements and hail from the Department of Land, Anti-encroachment, Slum, Charged Parking, Land Lease, Parks, and Engineering Department. Their new roles are expected to facilitate smoother governance and law enforcement in various towns of Karachi, including Sadar, Lyari, Gulshan Iqbal, Chinesar, Jinnah, Safora, Sohrab Goth, Malir, Gadap, Ibrahim Hydari, Maripur, Baldia, Morero, Manghopir, Mominabad, and Aurangi.
