Srinagar, November 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) describing as an exercise in futility the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the territory has said that nothing could be achieved by such sojourns.
A JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “This visit is just a gimmick to hoodwink international community, provide legitimacy to the so-called assembly elections and boost the morale of the killers, who recently murdered our young boys at Chattergam.”
“Kashmiris, as in the past, will strongly protest against this visit and give a message to the international community that Kashmir is a disputed territory and Kashmiris don’t accept this politics of Indian leaders,” the statement said, adding that “the military and police oppression in Kashmir is going on and hundreds and thousands of political workers have been put behind bars.”
“To cover this undemocratic practice, Modi is visiting Kashmir to tell the world that all is well,” it added.
The statement also condemned police crackdown on JKLF leaders and workers.
Meanwhile, the incarcerated JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, was brought to a hospital in Islamabad for medical check-up and was shifted back to the jail, thereafter.
The JKLF senior leaders, advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, Master Sheikh Muhammad Afzal and Siraj-ud-Din Mir are still in Kupwara jail while Er Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidi is in Baramullah jail.
