Placement Bureau to provide jobs to talented and qualified unemployed youth: Commissioner Karachi

Karachi, November 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): Placement Bureau established by the Commissioner Karachi will be registered under companies Act of 1984 to give the forum a legal status to provide jobs to talented and qualified unemployed youth with the support of government and private organizations and departments. It was decided in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the work of Placement Bureau and took various decisions to make the forum effective and result oriented. Commissioner Karachi said that the forum has been launched to provide employment opportunities to the jobless, for employment as well as internship/training opportunities to skilled and qualified youth.

On the part of government departments Labour Department, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Industries Department, STEVTA, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP), Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and Overseas Employment Corporation are extending support while from private side , Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) represents all the Chambers, Employer’s Federation of Pakistan (EFP) with over 4000 members, various town Associations, such as KATI, LATI, NKATI, SITE Association, FB Area Association, WEBCOP, Akhwat, Amn Tech and Karigar are extending support to the Commissioner Karachi Placement Bureau.

It was told in the meeting that the website has been by the Placement Bureau where job seeker youths would be able to upload their CVs/résumés through a form and directly send it to ‘Placement Bureau’. It was further told that the after receiving the applications for employment from youth, the bureau would categorize them according to candidates’ expertise and requirements and then would forward them to the organizations working with the Placement Bureau.

Commissioner asked the concerned officials to ensure that the Bureau fulfils its purpose and responsibilities in an effective manner, the Commissioner Karachi constantly keeps a close check on all of its activities through regular conferences. He further asked them to ensure that no applications are left unattended and are timely sent to relevant organizations.

Meeting was attended among others the officials of concerned departments including BBSYDP, Baitul Mal alongwith the representatives of Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP) and Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and others.
