Power Minister Urges Swift Completion of CASA-1000 to Boost Regional Energy Cooperation

Islamabad, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari emphasized the need for the early completion of the CASA-1000 transmission line project during a meeting with Shafiev Saidjon, the Charge d’ Affairs of Tajikistan. The discussion focused on enhancing energy cooperation among member countries.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Leghari proposed initiating a reverse energy scheme that would allow surplus energy supply during the winter season to be exported to member countries. This initiative aims to optimize energy utilization and support regional energy needs more effectively.

The CASA-1000 project is seen as a critical infrastructure development that will facilitate the transfer of hydroelectric power from Central Asia to South Asia, promising to strengthen energy security and foster economic ties between the participating nations.
