Motiwala welcomes announcement made by Afghan Government to grant multiple visas to Pakistani businessmen

Karachi, August 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Mr. M. Zubair Motiwala, President PAJCCI, greatly welcomed announcement made by Afghan Government to grant multiple visas to the Pakistani businessmen. This matter is of utmost importance and a long awaited reform that will significantly strengthen bi-lateral relationship between the two countries.

Under guidance of President PAJCCI, the Secretary General, Ms. Faiza Nasir recently submitted draft propositions to Ministry of Commerce in this regard.

The Secretariat proposed that the procedure for issuance of multiple visas to Pakistani business community must be simplified on the reciprocal basis. It is explicit that our Embassy enables Afghan businessmen in getting the multiple entry visa facility promptly and with great ease.

It is therefore expected that the same mechanism may be deployed by Afghan Embassy to facilitate our businessmen leading to enhancement of bi-lateral relationship between the two countries.

It was also recommended that in case of those Pakistani businessmen who have made investments in Afghanistan or have developed business creditability there since long, must be given 5-year multiple entry visa or at the minimum 1-year multiple entry visa to start with.

Also those businessmen who have deployed human resource from Pakistan into Afghanistan through proper channel should be facilitated in order to get at least 1-year multiple entry visas for them. As these organizations are playing significant role in establishing Afghani business landscape therefore they should be supported accordingly.

In order to make process easier for the businessmen it was suggested that time taken to issue visas should also be decreased and should be issued promptly.

As Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry has its offices both in Karachi and Kabul that can also issue recommendation letters if needed but it is highly proposed that documentation requirement should also be relaxed for the facilitation of businessmen.
