Higher Education Commission’s scholarship: COMSATS Lecturer completes Doctorate in two years

Islamabad, August 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr. Abdul Wahab, a lecturer in COMSATS Institute of IT, completed his PhD in merely two years. He was selected for MS leading to PhD studies in Applied Mathematics under HEC’s foreign scholarship program PhD in Natural and Basic Sciences, France.

He proceeded to France in 2007, where he successfully completed his M.Sc. (2008) and M.S. (2009) in Applied Mathematics from University of Paris VI (UPMC). He started his PhD from Ecole Polytechnique, under the supervision of a renowned professor Habib Ammari (CNRS and ENS), in Oct 2009 which he defended successfully in Nov. 2011.

During his PhD, he worked on mathematical techniques related to biomedical imaging. He has already published or submitted eight research articles in leading ISI journals, including a chapter in a book published by Springer-Verlag. He has also presented two posters and has delivered several invited talks in international conferences and seminar series.

It is worthwhile mentioning that Dr. Abdul Wahab is the fifth Pakistani to complete a PhD from Ecole Polytechnique, more than two hundred years old and the most prestigious French university. He has also joined his parent institution, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Wah Cantt in order to contribute for the betterment of R and D in Pakistan.
