Muharram mourners subjected to force in IOK, many injured

Srinagar, November 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured when Indian police and troops used brute force on Muharram processions in Srinagar.

Despite restrictions imposed by the authorities, people gathered at several places in Srinagar to take out the Muharram processions. However, Indian police and troops resorted to lathi-charge and fired teargas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the mourners. More than a dozen persons were injured while many others arrested by the Indian forces’ personnel.
