National Assembly Standing Committee on Interprovincial Coordination meets

Islamabad, July 19, 2016 (PPI-OT):A meeting of the Standing Committee on Interprovincial Coordination (IPC) was held today in Committee Room No. 7, Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan, MNA. The following agenda items were discussed during the meeting:-

i) The ministry to present Special Audit Report of Pakistan Hockey Federation for the period 2008-2013 and 2013-2016 as recommended/directed by the Committee in its meeting held on 18-02-2016.

ii) Comprehensive briefing on affairs of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in relation with the development of Cricket.

iii) Status update on the recommendation of the standing Committee made on 18-02-2016; to include Qazi Mohib Hockey Stadium, District Bannu in the PSDP for the Financial Year 2016-17.

iv) Action taken on the recommendation to include sports projects for Sindh and Baluchistan provinces in the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) under the ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC).

The Committee lauded the performance shown by the Pakistan Cricket Team in its first Test Match and felicitated it for impressive victory against the England Cricket Team. Moreover, the Committee also praised the military and paramilitary forces for the release of the son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice.

Regarding Agenda Item No. II, the Committee deferred the issue for further consideration till its next meeting with the directions of early completion of scrutiny of the Audit Reports for the years specified in the agenda above. The Committee further recommended that the representatives of PHF and the Ministry to finalize and compose the financial rules concerning the emoluments paid to the players and the staff, and submit before the Committee within one month following the conclusion of today’s meeting.

Regarding Agenda Item No. III, the Committee expressed its displeasure over the non-presence of concerned officers/representatives of the PCB and questioned the visit of whole senior management to England. The Committee, however, deferred the issue with further direction to submit a comprehensive report on questions raised during the meeting by the Hon. Members.

The Committee deferred the Agenda Item No. IV, after it was apprised that the funds were approved by the Ministry of Planning and Development and were included in the latest budget. The Committee, in addition, asked for a comparative study of funds approved for all the four provinces.

The Committee, on Agenda Item No. V, deferred the issue till its next meeting and directed to submit the of report on the issue. The Committee further recommended that observations raised by all the provincial governments during their separate meetings with the Committee will be taken up in the next meeting.

Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to and from the chair.
