National interest and service to masses, top most priority: Minister

Islamabad, April 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Ensuring transparency, merit based decision making and team work should be the hallmark of the Ministry, said the caretaker Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mr. Sohail Wajahat H.Siddiqui. He was chairing the first official briefing by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources here in Islamabad today.

Mr. Sohail Wajahat further said that our vision would be to enhance efficiency of the human resources, increasing productivity of organizations, reduction of costs and profitable growth in all the upstream and downstream oil and gas sector. He said that it would be his personal mission to incorporate the core values of responsibility, innovation and excellence in the Ministry and its organizations.

Secretary Petroleum Mr. Abid Saeed briefed the Minister regarding functions and working of the Ministry of Petroleum. Separate presentations were given to the Minister by heads of the Ministry’s wings and directorates including Joint Secretaries of Administration and Corporate Affairs wing, International and Joint Ventures wing, Chief Finance and Accounts Officer, Director Generals of Minerals, Petroleum Concessions, Oil, Gas, Special Projects and Refineries.

The Minister was also briefed regarding collaboration and working with the other departments and regulatory authorities. Mr. Sohail Wajahat directed for detailed presentations by the various directorates, attached departments and companies.

The caretaker Minister emphasized upon fair and transparent working and said that national interest should be given top priority while making decisions. Earlier, officers of the Ministry formally welcomed the caretaker minister and an introductory session was held.
