Nestle Pakistan Recognized at 6th OICCI Women Empowerment Awards 2023

Karachi, Nestle Pakistan was acknowledged at the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women Empowerment Awards 2023, held in Karachi, where it secured the first runner-up position. The recognition underscores Nestle Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive culture, particularly in a country grappling with a significant gender gap and limited female participation in the workforce.

According to Nestle Pakistan Limited, Masam Abbas, the Gender Diversity Champion and Business Executive Officer for Juices at Nestle Pakistan, emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for women to realize their full potential. He noted that Nestle Pakistan has made substantial efforts not only to integrate these principles within its organization but also to extend them beyond its boundaries.

“Diversity goals, championed by leaders at all levels within the company, are an essential component of each function’s comprehensive business plan,” said Abbas. “This demonstrates Nestle Pakistan’s commitment and dedication to women’s empowerment, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals 5 – Gender Equality, 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, and 10 – Reduced Inequalities.”

Internally, Nestle Pakistan runs programs such as ‘Phir Se Ker Dikhao,’ which provides coaching and experiential learning for women to reconnect with their work life, and ‘Kero Aitmaad,’ which breaks stereotypes and encourages young female university students by sharing stories of those who joined the workforce, instilling hope, ambition, and self-confidence.

Externally, Nestle Pakistan is engaged in community enhancement through programs like the Nestle BISP Rural Women Sales Program, providing livelihood opportunities to beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). This year, the program expanded its reach, enrolling nearly 3000 BISP beneficiaries as sales agents across 28 districts in Pakistan.

Awards were adjudicated by an independent jury that assessed companies’ performances from various angles and recognized the best performers overall and in different categories.
