PCJCCI and UMT Celebrate Anniversary of Pakistan-China Diplomatic Relations

Lahore, Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) celebrated the anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting the continuous strengthening of ties since the establishment of these relations on May 21, 1951. The event took place at the PCJCCI Secretariat in Lahore, emphasizing the pivotal role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth.

According to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Moazzam Ali Ghurki, President of PCJCCI, recounted the historical development of the bilateral relationship, which has grown increasingly strong over the years. Col. Ashraf, an Executive Committee Member of PCJCCI, reflected on the mutual trust, respect, and goodwill that define the relationship between the two nations.

Fang Yulong, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, discussed how the synergy between Chinese technological prowess and Pakistan’s resources could drive transformative changes in the region. He reinforced that CPEC stands as a crucial pillar of economic, commercial, and cultural ties between Pakistan and China, having been a cornerstone of their friendship for nearly 70 years.

Nazir Hussain, Former Additional Foreign Secretary and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Strategy and International Relations at PCJCCI, highlighted China’s emergence as a global economic power, which he noted has increasingly benefited Pakistan. The cooperation extends beyond governmental interactions, with significant contributions from the private sector in both countries.

Hamza Khalid, Vice President of PCJCCI, and Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, underscored the importance of CPEC in the current landscape. They noted the Chamber’s efforts in bridging communication gaps by promoting Chinese language proficiency across various professional sectors in Pakistan, viewing the Economic Corridor as a pathway not only to Pakistan’s economic prosperity but also as a future driver of global development.
