New leadership of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to accord priority to small traders: S.M. Muneer

Islamabad, November 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): Chief Executive Trade Development Authority Pakistan S.M. Muneer announced that new leadership of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will also take small traders into confidence on all policy making decisions in future.

Speaking at a reception cum dinner in his honour and Chairman United Business Group (UBG) Iftikhar Ali Malik here last night by Abdul Rauf, former President ICCI and chairman founder group ,he said that in past small traders, a source of strengthen for federation, were always neglected and their genuine problems were never taken care of at appropriate forum.

He said that first time in trade politic history, he has constituted a 10-member committee comprising leading trade leaders for preparation of comprehensive manifesto to be implemented by the FPCCI and all its affiliated chambers and trade bodies. He said that core committee of UBG after proper deliberation in a true democratic manners and consultation with all presidents of chambers will accord its approval.

S.M. Munir who is also patron-in-chief of UBG said that now all decisions were being taken on merit for the promotion of trade and industry across the country and interests of the business community will be accorded priority besides fair and transparent working of FPCCI and all its regional offices throughout the country.

He said that only true democracy will prevail in trade politics and core committee of UBG has awarded group ticket to Muhammad Address for the top slot of the President of FPCCI who is enjoying the support of 127 executive committee and general body members of the FPCCI out a total strength of 160 house.

Iftikhar Ali Malik said that now no one will be allowed to hijack FPCCI and only merit based democracy will prevail in trade politic. He said UBG will purge the trade politics of corruption, nepotism and unfair practices. He claimed that his group will provide neat and clean new FPCCI leadership who could deliver the goods.

Abdul Rauf the United Business Group Leader of KPK and Islamabad, who is also former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Chairman, Founder Group of ICCI said that today it is a great honour for me and the business community of KPK and Islamabad, prominent business leaders of Pakistan, Khyber to Karachi are here under the dynamic leadership of S.M Muneer and Iftikhar Ali Malik.

Rauf said that inshaallah if we follow the saying of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah “Unity Faith Discipline” the United Business Group will win the upcoming election of FPCCI. Senator Ghulam Ali who is also former FPCCI President stressed the urgent need for addressing the genuine problems being confronted by the business community in KPK province in the wake of war on terrorism.

Senator Ilyas Bilour said that he throughout his life always firmly believes in rule of law, promotion of democracy and only supported such people who advocate the cause of poor segment of the society and traders in the country. He said he never compromised on principles.

Presidential candidate Muhammad Idrees who is former FPCCI VP and Zonal Chairman Punjab region, promised that if voted to power, all chambers, affiliated trade bodies and district heads of Anjuman-i-Tijran throughout the country will be consulted on regular basis on all important issues. He said that he will try his best to live upto the aspiration of the business community and announced not to avail any perks attached to the portfolio of president.

The newly elected Presidents of Chaman, Larkana, Hazara, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Mardan, Quetta, Bahwalpur, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Faisalabad and scores of other chambers including former federation VPs Hameed Akhtar Chadda and Tanvir A Sheikh also spoke.

Prominent among them attended reception included Senator Haji Adeel Ahmad, MNA Abdul Manan, Munawar Mughal, Haroon Rashid, Zafar Bakhtawari, Mian Maqbool, Malik Sohial Hussain,Zubair Malik, Shakeel Munir and Ashfaq Ahmad Chattah, Acting President and Vice President of ICCI besides scores of others.
