Work on Neelam Jhelum Transmission Line begins

Lahore, November 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): Minister of state for Water and Power, Ch. Abid Sher Ali inaugurated groundbreaking ceremony of 500 Kv Neelam Jhelum Transmission Line at Azad Pattan, District Palandri of Azad Kashmir on Thursday. Transmission scheme for evacuation of power from 969 MW Neelum Jhelum Hydropower plant to the National Grid would be completed as early as the plant comes into operation.

While addressing at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of State for Water and Power, Ch. Abid Sher Ali said that following the policy of present government for power generation on fast track, the transmission line has been divided into three Lots i.e. LOT-1, LOT-2 and Lot-3.

Today work on Lot-2, 45 km long, has been successfully started which would be completed in March 2016. He also appreciated the management of National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) for speedy work on this vital project.

The ceremony was also attended by President Muslim League-N, Raja Farooq Haider, Managing Director NTDC Engr. Tahir Mahmood and other senior officials of NTDC.

Minister of state for Water and Power further told the gathering that his government is determined to fulfil all promises made to nation while few political opponents are engaged in staging sit-in for sabotaging all the development initiative taken by the government. To benefit common man, this government gives prime importance to provide cheaper source of energy generation, he added.
