NIA Attaches Property of Alleged Militant Supporter in Shopian

Srinagar: The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of a Kashmiri resident in Shopian district, continuing a series of property seizures in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 16 August 2024, the NIA officials took action against Nasir Rashid Butt, attaching his residential house located in the village of Tengpora, Shopian. The agency alleges that Butt was an Over Ground Worker (OGW) for a mujahid outfit and implicated him in the murder of a local Sarpanch in the district.

This move is part of a broader pattern of property attachments and land seizures by Indian authorities in the region, which critics argue strip local Kashmiris of their land and rights under various pretexts.
