Nigeria is a very big market for Pakistani Pharma Products: Ahmed Ali Sirohey

Karachi, April 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): Ahmed Ali Sirohey, the Deputy Ambassador of Pakistan to Nigeria said that Nigeria is a very big market for Pakistani Pharma Products, he informed that in the year 2012 approximately medicines for US$1.1 billion were imported by Nigeria.

He was addressing at reception in honour of leading Nigerian Pharma Industrialists led by Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai which was hosted by Nadeem Chandna, Chairman South Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA).

Sarohi emphasized that this is the right time for the Pakistani exporter to enter in the Nigerian market as after two to three years later it will be very difficult as the local manufacturers’ is coming to this business.

He informed that the present Director General of NAFDAC (The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control is a Nigerian government agency under the Federal Ministry of Health that is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacturer, importation, exportation, advertisement, distribution, sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals and packaged water.

He explained further that the People of Nigeria rating Pakistan equal to European Countries even the Indian Doctors preferred to prescribe Pakistani medicines. He again accentuates to the audience to visit Nigeria and see how big opportunity is waiting for them, he said that lots of Indian and Chinese companies are doing business and now European also entered to capture this big market.

He assured that his assistance and services are always available the Pakistani exporters. In reply to a suggestion to include PPMA Recommendation letter for getting visa, he replied that he will see the possibility of doing the needful and asked that PPMA should appoint a focal person and give his name and complete contact detail for direct interaction.

After that Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai addresses and invited Pakistani exporters to do business with Nigeria. He also invited Pakistani exporters to come to Nigeria and capture this very big and potential market. He thanks to PPMA for providing such attractive occasion to meet important personalities that will be helpful for strengthening the relation and business between Pakistan and Nigeria.
