Offal removal and disposal at Eid-ul-Azha

Karachi, October 17, 2012 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan said KMC along with town’s administration performed the lifting and disposal of offal on Eid-ul- Azha under scientific method. Every year Municipal Services Department with the coordination of towns administration remove the offal of sacrificial animals from all over the city and bury it in trenches at various locations which not only saved the time and money but also prepared a huge quantity of organic fertilizer after a year. He said this while speaking as the chief guest in a workshop titled “Aalaish Baney Aaraish” held by City Institute of Image Management.

The Metropolitan Commissioner said useful information shared in such workshops helps in making better strategy. Millions of animals were sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha in Karachi and planning was made to dispose huge quantity of offal under a safe and secure method.

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation performed this operation with the coordination of town municipal administration and this work continues all three days of Eid. Metropolitan Commissioner advised the participants of the workshop which were mostly the officers to share their experiences and learn as much as they could do. Such courses proved beneficial for the officers of municipal organizations.

Former Director Parks Misbah Jameeli said the organic fertilizer obtained from the burial sites of the offal possessed many qualities and utilized for sowing greenery and plants fertilization. He said the citizens should be provided with the information about the growing and nurturing of various kinds of plants to enable them to play their role in keeping the city clean and green.
