Over 3,300 Villages in Punjab Affected by Ravi, Sutlej & Chenab Floods

Lahore: Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab reports over 3,300 villages have been affected by severe flooding in Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers.

According to Radio Pakistan, Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed stated that over 3.36 million people have been impacted, and forty-three lives have been lost due to the floods. He mentioned that over 1.29 million people have been rescued and relocated to safer areas. Additionally, more than four hundred relief and medical camps, along with three hundred eighty-five veterinary camps, have been established in the affected districts.

During the rescue operations, nearly eight hundred thousand animals were also transferred to safer locations. The Relief Commissioner noted that Mangla Dam is at eighty-three percent capacity, while Tarbela Dam is now completely full.

On instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a tent city has been established for flood-affected individuals in Pakpattan. This camp includes a red-carpeted reception area and provides meals, as well as free fodder for livestock. Medical facilities, mosquito repellent spray, and cleaning teams are actively working at the site.

Flood-affected families have expressed satisfaction with the food, shelter, and care provided for their animals. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also sent gifts for the affected families.
