Pakistan Backs UN’s Primary Role in Global Issue Resolution: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s strong support for strengthening multilateralism and ensuring the central role of the United Nations in addressing global challenges. He expressed these views during a meeting with Ms. Michelle Bachelet, the candidate for the position of UN Secretary-General, who called on him in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of upholding the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, faithful implementation of UN resolutions, and international treaties. He stressed the need for achieving balanced progress across all three pillars of the United Nations: peace and security, development, and human rights.

Prime Minister Sharif also highlighted the necessity for enhanced international cooperation and an increased focus on accelerating the implementation of the global development agenda.
