Pakistan Calls for Accountability for Attacks on Peacekeepers

Islamabad: At the United Nations Pakistan has called for accountability for attacks on peacekeepers.

In a statement at the UN Security Council briefing on the situation in Abyei, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon strongly condemned a drone attack on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei’s logistics base in Kadugli in December last year, which killed six Bangladeshi peacekeepers.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Usman Jadoon called for the accountability of the perpetrators, stating that accountability for crimes against peacekeepers is key to deterring such attacks in the future. He emphasized that financial considerations must not undermine protection, safety and security, and accountability for crimes against peacekeepers.
