Pakistan Customs to Embrace Technology-Driven, Faceless Operations: Chairman FBR

Islamabad: FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has emphasized that Pakistan Customs would increasingly become technology-driven and faceless. He was addressing the passing-out ceremony of twelve Assistant Collectors of the 52nd Common Training Programme of Pakistan Customs Service at FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. The FBR Chairman called upon newly trained Customs officers to play a key role in bridging the gap between the country’s trade potential and trade performance.

According to Radio Pakistan, Member Customs (Operations) Syed Shakeel Shah highlighted the transformation of Pakistan Customs into a modern, automated, and technology-driven organization. He noted that Customs officers are no longer just revenue collectors at the border; they are the primary facilitators of legitimate commerce and the frontline defenders of Pakistan’s economic frontiers.

The training covered various aspects vital to the modern customs operations, including customs law, international trade, WCO frameworks, tariff classification, valuation, trade facilitation, Pakistan Single Window, and Customs enforcement.
