Lahore, February 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shabaz Sharif for early completion of Nandipur Power Project and hoped that other projects like 1000 MW solar power project, Nelum Jhelum and Thar coal would follow the suit.
In a press statement issued here Friday, Chairman PIAF Malik Tahir Javed said that power generation through Nandi Pur Power Project in May 2014 would definitely curtail load shedding that has made industrial sector wobbling.
He said that hasty work on power projects shows the commitment of PML-N government. Previous regime had never bothered to increase power generation by a single MW and put the whole economy of stake. He said that just because of power shortage a large number of industrial units had shifted their operations to the other countries left millions industrial workers jobless but previous government remained busy in just ruling but now situation is taking a positive turn.
He said that unbelievable pace of work on Nandi Pur Power Project has not only given a ray of hope to the local businessmen but has also given a very good signal to the foreign investors who were reluctant to put their money into the ventures in Pakistan.
Malik Tahir Javed urged the government to complete all power projects at the earliest on the patron of Nandipur Power Project. He also stressed the need to build consensus on Kalabagh Dam that could easily fulfil day-to-day rising energy and water needs of the country.
He said that Kalabagh Dam was a mega project as it could easily curtail the menace of water shortage and could generate more than 3500 MW cheap electricity. And most importantly it could save the people of particularly Sindh and Balochistan from flood destruction.
He said that the people, who are crying against Kalabagh Dam, always avoid saying a word against Indian water aggression, which shows that how much they are loyal with the country.
He said that keeping in view the devastation of recent-past floods, government should not waste time and start construction of KBD immediately otherwise the days are not far when the country would have best irrigation system in the world but not water.
