Pakistan Navy Chief Enhances Bilateral Military Ties with Romania, Addresses National Defence University

Islamabad: Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan Navy, recently visited Romania where he engaged with top Romanian military officials and delivered a lecture on maritime security. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening military collaboration between Pakistan and Romania.

According to Pakistan Navy announcement issued on 26 July 2024, Admiral Ashraf met with General Gheorghita Vlad, Chief of Defence Staff, and Vice Admiral Mihai Panait, Chief of the Romanian Navy, aboard the Romanian Navy Frigate Regina Maria. The discussions focused on regional maritime security, professional matters, and ways to enhance bilateral military cooperation. Both sides recognized the importance of expanding their military relations across various domains.

During his visit to the National Defence University of Romania, Admiral Ashraf delivered a lecture on ‘Collaborative Maritime Security,’ emphasizing the necessity of collective efforts in resolving maritime disputes through dialogue and negotiations. He argued that no single nation could independently ensure effective maritime security, highlighting Pakistan Navy’s active role in Combined Maritime Forces operations and regional maritime security initiatives.
