Pakistan President Highlights Media’s Role in Environmental Advocacy on World Press Freedom Day

Islamabad, On World Press Freedom Day, the President of Pakistan emphasized the crucial role of a free press in addressing environmental issues and promoting global awareness. He called for creating a safe, responsible media landscape, underscoring the media’s role in combating misinformation about climate change and promoting sustainable practices.

According to Press Information Department, the President acknowledged the challenges faced by journalists worldwide and stressed the importance of an enabling environment for the press to operate without fear of intimidation. The theme for this year’s observance, “A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the face of the environmental crisis,â€� reflects the urgent need for media engagement in environmental education and action. The President urged the media to utilize its platform to foster awareness and advocate for measures against climate change, such as forestation, the adoption of clean technologies, and biodiversity protection.
