Pakistan Supports UN Chief Amid Tensions Over Middle East Crisis

New York: Pakistan has condemned Israel for its actions against UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, after Israel declared him “persona non grata” and barred him from entering the country. Pakistan expressed its full solidarity with Guterres, praising his principled stance on the Middle East conflict, particularly regarding the violence in Gaza and Lebanon.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, emphasized the importance of the UN as a pillar of global order. In an interview, Akram condemned Israel’s attacks on Guterres, describing insult and abuse as the tools of aggressors. He also highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 41,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, and noted the severe impact of Israel’s new offensive against Lebanon.
