Islamabad: Pakistan says it will continue to support and facilitate efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and stability across the region. The remarks were made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, while speaking at the UN Security Council open debate on the Situation in the Middle East.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that at this critical juncture, restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy must prevail. He stated that Pakistan remains actively engaged in advancing diplomatic pathways and advocating for a peaceful resolution of the crisis. The recent talks hosted in Islamabad between the U.S. and Iran underscore this commitment.
Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting its adverse impact on countries worldwide, including Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of all brotherly states in the region. The ambassador stressed the importance of universal respect for international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
