Pakistan Urges Global Focus on Inclusive Social Development at UN

United Nations: Pakistan has called for a concerted effort towards inclusive social development during a session at the United Nations. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Alternate Permanent Representative to the UN, highlighted the challenges faced by developing nations in achieving the 2030 Agenda due to insufficient financial and structural resources.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Ahmad spoke during the general debate at the 63rd Session of the Commission on Social Development. He emphasized the need for international support to overcome these hurdles and foster inclusive growth.

Pakistan has been proactive in implementing initiatives aimed at social inclusion. Programs such as the Benazir Income Support Program, Prime Minister’s Youth Program, and various micro financing schemes have been introduced to aid in public service delivery. These measures also include universal health coverage programs and e-governance initiatives, aimed at enhancing accessibility and efficiency.

The ambassador’s remarks underscore Pakistan’s commitment to its national development goals while also calling for global cooperation to ensure that developing countries can effectively pursue social development targets.
