Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement to enhance their economic cooperation and investigate new opportunities for collaboration. The agreement was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and British High Commissioner Ms. Jane Marriott in Islamabad.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, both parties discussed key issues of mutual interest, including ongoing economic reforms and financial cooperation. The discussions also covered initiatives under the UK’s support programs in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Finance Minister Aurangzeb provided an overview of Pakistan’s economy and updated on the government’s reform agenda. The focus was on maintaining macroeconomic stability and steering the economy towards export-led growth.
The Finance Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, economic stability, and sustainable growth. He also expressed appreciation for the UK’s continued support through development and governance programs in Pakistan.
Furthermore, Aurangzeb acknowledged the contributions of these programs and highlighted the need for ongoing technical assistance and capacity-building efforts.
