Pakistani community in Chicago meets Qaim Ali Shah

Karachi, October 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah during his one week visit of Chicago (USA) met with Pakistani community and listened their problems. Syed Qaim Ali Shah while his meetings with Governor of ILLINOIS Mr. PAT QUINN and Mayor of Chicago Mr. RAHM EMANUEL discussed various issues with them.

The Pakistan community apprised the Chief Minister Sindh that PIA had twice weekly direct flights from Chicago until February 2012 when these were suspended mainly due to shortage of aircrafts with the airline.

They informed that almost 2 Lac strong Pakistani community of the 12 Midwest states apart from among US passengers, who prefer PIA over other airlines from direct access to Pakistan. The Pakistani community also complained that the PTCL had raised international call rates to Pakistan, due to levy of extra fees charged by PTCL, resulting Pakistani community members difficulties to remain in touch with families in Pakistan.

Chief Minister Sindh assured the Pakistani community to Chicago (USA) that he will bring to the notice of concerned quarters for early solution. He said that due to daily or twice per week flights will provide traders and businessmen opportunities to bring various commodities to USA which include Mango, Date(Khajoor), Handicrafts etc.

Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago Mr. Zaheer Pervaiz Khan welcomed the Chief Minister Sindh and apprised him facilities being extended to Pakistani community. The notable Pakistani community members including Dr. Murtaza Arain, Mr. Mubarak Mirjat, Dr. Tariq Butt and Mr. Tariq Mahance were also present.
