PDP Pledges to Restore Articles 370 and 35A in Election Manifesto, Asserts Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti announced her party’s commitment to reinstating Articles 370 and 35A as part of its manifesto, aiming to safeguard the rights of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Mufti criticized the 2019 revocation of these articles as unconstitutional and harmful, intensifying the region’s political strife and deepening local disenfranchisement.

She outlined the PDP’s agenda, which includes restoring the constitutional status and privileges previously held by Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti emphasized the party’s strategy to advocate for diplomatic dialogues between India and Pakistan, focus on conflict resolution, and promote regional cooperation and connectivity across the Line of Control.

Additionally, Mufti vowed to seek the repeal of several contentious acts such as the Public Safety Act and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, which she argues contribute to the unwarranted detention of activists and suppress civil liberties.

The PDP leader also pledged to reform and revitalize the Waqf Board, ensuring it operates with enhanced transparency, accountability, and community engagement.
