Police force to be provided for NC project in Korangi Industrial Area

Karachi, January 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Law and order in Korangi Industrial Area (KIA) would be strengthened further with the coordination of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) and assisting it in the CPLC Neighbourhood Care projects, this was stated by DIG East, Aleem Jaffary who called on Chairman and office bearers of KATI on Wednesday.

He has given the industrialists his fullest assurance for addressing all the issues pertaining to law and order whether they are major or minor. “Industrial wheel must keep rolling as it provides jobs to the people and revenue to the national exchequer and should be given priority in maintaining law and order”, Jaffary said.

He informed that considering the current situation in the city Karachi Police are facing acute shortage of additional force due to deployment of personnel at various places particularly protection of Polio workers, voters lists verification teams and unrest in various parts of the city. He however, said he would look into the issues raised by KATI and deployment of police personnel for the CPLC-NC projects initiated in different sectors of KIA.

He advised the industrialists to install cameras in their factories and record ins and outs of all the people visiting them. He said that camera vigilance has become an integral part of security measures all over the world.

The Chairman KATI, Mohammad Zubair Chhaya pointed out that KATI has initiated CPLC-NC projects in various sectors of KIA in order to strengthen security and vigilance but most of them yet to be start function due to want of police force.

He said that without participation of police CPLC-NC projects cannot be successful and DIG should provide force as per commitment. He said that some of the adjoining areas of KIA are the major hideouts of the criminals in Korangi and should be cleansed from bhatta Mafia and other criminals. He said that Awami Colony Police Station is the most neglected area by the police as there was no vigilance of that area.

He said that criminals using franchise of various political parties are also operating from these areas. President all Karachi Industrial Alliance, Mian Zahid Hussain said on this occasion that most of the extortionists are misusing the names of political parties and if the these parties would show some political will the crimes would be eliminated to almost nil in the area.

He said that KIA is a little better than other industrial zones due to the fact that industrial representatives are having direct contact to the political parties and law enforcing agencies and frequently bring the situation of KIA to their knowledge.

Chairman Law and Order Committee, Nadeem Khan suggested the DIG to speed up the patrolling in Mehran and Bilal Town and carry out an operation in these areas to control frequent crimes.
