Karachi: District Coordination Officer Mohammad Hussain Syed has said that oral polio vaccine will be administered to over 2.3million children under 5 years of age during next polio eradication campaign in city.
400 Additional lady health workers would take part in the campaign scheduled to be carried out from 19 to 21September 2011. Any negligence by the health workers in the three day campaign will not be tolerated and action will be taken against the whole team instead of one or two persons.
He said this while addressing a meeting of the district task force for eradication of polio in Civic Centre on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by EDO Health Dr. Nasir Javed, Town Administrators, Health Officers and others.
DCO Karachi on this occasion stressed the need for union council level work for eradication of polio disease.
He said that the virus could be controlled by preparation of a micro management program.
DCO Karachi directed concerned officials to pay full attention on the 61 high risk union councils to make it a success.
EDO Health Dr. Nasir Javed and representative of World Health Organization Yahya Abdul Ghaffar also addressed the meeting.
