Positive feedback for ministry of commerce from international community

Islamabad, April 03, 2015 (PPI-OT): After stagnant economic activity for the last decade, Pakistan’s economy is strengthening and expanding day by day. The positive feedback from the international community clearly depicts that our efforts under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have started bearing fruit. This was stated by minister for commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan in a meeting with US deputy special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Ms Laurel Miller.

The minister further added that recent engagement and dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan has brought both the countries closer and trade ties have strengthened. The minister appreciated the dedicated leadership of both sides on successful holding of Pak-Afghan Business forum.

Ms. Miller appreciated Prime Minister’s vision 2025 and the recent developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan. She urged that both the neighbours can gain even more from trade liberalization. The minister apprised the worthy guest that current economic and financial policies offer unprecedented opportunities to the investors and Afghanistan remains our important trade partner. No doubt trade liberalization would benefit not only both the countries but the SAARC members as well.

The minister mentioned that land port authority would be launched soon that is a step towards trade facilitation. Economic corridor is going to change the fate of the region by providing the shortest route to sea to the Central Asian Republics. Infrastructure development from Gwadar to Chaman would unveil economic prosperity and trade enhancement for the whole region.
