President condoles death of Mehrunnisa Afridi

Islamabad, March 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari has condoled the death of Ms. Mehrunnisa Afridi PPP MNA. In a condolence message to her husband the President expressed profound grief and shock over the death of Ms. Mehrunnisa Afridi and paid tributes to her life long services as a committed democratic political activist, as an advocate defending human rights, as former President of the Women wing of the PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and as Member of the Parliament.

The President also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of Ms. Mehrunnisa Afridi and patience to the members of bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that Ms. Mehrunnisa Afridi who was elected as MNA on the seats reserved for women from Khybe Pakhtunkhwa during the 2008 elections died in Peshawar last night after brief illness.

Funeral prayers will be offered today at 02:00 p.m. Monday near Abu Bakr mosque at Lalazar stop in University campus Peshawar followed by burial in family graveyard in Sheikh Maltoon, Mardan at 04:00 p.m. today.
