President of FPCCI Leads Delegation to Strengthen UK Trade Ties

Karachi: Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), is spearheading a trade delegation to the United Kingdom as part of a Commonwealth program scheduled for April 7th and 8th. The initiative seeks to leverage the economic opportunities within the Commonwealth’s network of 56 countries, collectively boasting a GDP exceeding $13 trillion.

Mr. Sheikh is set to deliver a keynote address at a pivotal roundtable discussion titled “Standards and Regulation; Creating Competitive and Dynamic Regulatory Environments to Drive Growth.” This engagement underscores the delegation’s mission to foster an environment conducive to economic expansion through enhanced regulatory frameworks.

The FPCCI delegation plans to engage with a wide array of stakeholders, including British businesses, investors, and government officials. This outreach aims to explore potential avenues for bilateral trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation. Strengthening trade relations with the UK and other Commonwealth nations is a primary objective of the visit.

In addition to the roundtable, Mr. Sheikh is scheduled for meetings with prominent organizations such as the West London Chamber of Commerce, the Pakistan-British Business Council, and key figures like Sardar Shafquat, President of the UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Atta Haq, Chairman of the UK-Pakistan Business Council.

A visit to the Pakistan High Commission is also on the agenda, where Mr. Sheikh will emphasize Pakistan’s business potential, particularly in sectors like agribusiness, energy and renewables, green logistics, pharmaceuticals, IT, digital services, and textiles.

The FPCCI delegation intends to highlight Pakistan’s strategic advantages, including its geographic location, skilled workforce, and supportive business policies. The visit is anticipated to draw British investment to Pakistan, boost bilateral trade, and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
