President Zardari Approves Retirement of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui

Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the retirement notification for Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, effectively restoring his status following a previous removal. The decision includes reversing a 2018 notification that had dismissed him from his role at the Islamabad High Court.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the approval came after the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgment on March 22, 2024, which directed adherence to Article 195 of the Constitution. The President’s decision also involved the withdrawal of a prior notification by the Law and Justice Division from October 11, 2018, which had initially removed Justice Siddiqui based on the Supreme Judicial Council’s recommendations.

This latest development follows a series of legal proceedings and council recommendations, culminating in a final decision by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister, aligning with the principles of judicial oversight and constitutional mandates.
