Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls for High Alert in Response to Monsoon Rains

Islamabad: In light of the severe monsoon season, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant bodies to maintain high alert for potential flooding, especially around the Chenab River.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of readiness among NDMA, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, civil defence, and district administrations to safeguard communities in the catchment areas of the Chenab River and other cities prone to flooding. He is personally monitoring the situation through a dashboard that tracks the monsoon’s progression.

Prime Minister Sharif has instructed the involved agencies to prepare for evacuation and relief efforts, ensuring the availability of drainage systems, medicines, tents, and other necessary relief materials. He also highlighted the need for heightened public awareness in the regions likely to be affected by the floods.
