Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Commits to Enhancing Labor Rights and Welfare on Labour Day

On Labour Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif outlined his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of Pakistan’s labor force, acknowledging the significant contributions of workers to the nation’s economy and infrastructure. According to Press Information Department, in his message, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting labor rights and harmonizing local laws with international standards. These include the upcoming National Tripartite Labour Conference focused on occupational safety and health (OSH), and efforts to ratify the ILO Convention on OSH in Mines No. 176 to better protect miners. The Prime Minister also addressed the economic challenges faced by workers due to current inflation, mentioning targeted subsidies and support programs designed to alleviate their burden. ocial security. Furthermore, recognizing the need for a skilled workforce to meet the demands of new job opportunities, the government has initiated vocational training and skills development programs.
