Karachi, March 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Global Compact Network Pakistan in collaboration with Employers’ Federation of Pakistan is organizing a Private Sector/ Stakeholders Consultation meeting on Post -2015 Development Agenda on 21st March, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at local hotel, Karachi.
Mr. Ghazi Salahuddin, Media Icon, Mr. Pervez Ghias, CEO Indus Motor Company, Mr. Sohail P. Ahmed, Vice Chairman House of Habib, Dr. Abdul Wahab, President MAJU, Dr. Mustaghisur Rehman of SZABIST, Mr. Ahsanullah Khan, President GCNP, Mr. K.M. Nauman, President EFP, Mr. Shouket Ali, President APTUC, Mr. Nazar Ali, Director Manpower Sindh and Mr. Mirza Raza Ali, Council Chairman, Lions Clubs International will be among the prominent speakers on the occasion.
Out of the total 41 Millennium Development goals (MDGs) targets, Pakistan has been on target on 8, off track on 25 targets and no progress on the remaining 8, according to the information submitted to the Special Committee of the National Assembly in February 2013. While the deadline for achieving the MDG Goals and targets by the year 2015 is coming to a close and Pakistan’s overall performance is not really promising, the UN has already started the consultation process for developing the Post 2015 Development Agenda. As a stakeholder, the UNGC is holding a Private Sector Leader’s Round Table for developing Post 2015 Developing Agenda and input has been sought from the Private Sector in Pakistan for consideration in this Round Table.
The purpose of this event is to consult the private sector stakeholders particularly the UNGC member organizations for their input on Post 2015 Development Agenda in terms of Pakistan’s perspective and prepare our recommendation for the forthcoming Round Table.
