Protests continue over Kashmiri student’s death in India

Hyderabad Deccan, March 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Protests continued for the second consecutive day, today, at English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus in the Osmania University in Hyderabad over the death of a Kashmiri research scholar, Mudasir Kamran.

The protesting students were demanding action against proctor Harish Vijra for the killing, an official said.

Tension prevailed at the campus as the students gathered outside the administration block, raising slogans against the vice-chancellor and demanding immediate arrest of the proctor. Police tightened security to prevent any untoward incident.

Several student leaders said that the proctor had always had discriminatory attitude towards the students based on their region and religion.
