PTA likely to delay auction of 3G licences – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is expected to delay the auction of 3G licenses which was due on March 29 after obtaining input of a consultant to offer services for the auction of these licences.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, the decision regarding the increase in the base price of 3G licenses for bidding from $210 to $291 million remains unsettled as it was recommended by the Senate Standing Committee on IT. The Committee had also recommended PTA should only auction 3G and the auction of 4G technology should be deferred and the amount that would be received through auction should only be in foreign currency.
