Punjab Police Implements Extensive Security for Religious Observances in Lahore

Lahore: Punjab Police, under the directive of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, deployed comprehensive security measures for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the final day of the annual Urs of Sufi Saint Data Ali Hajveri (RA), ensuring the safe conduct of all events across the province.

According to Punjab Police, over 30,000 officers and personnel were mobilized to oversee the security of 680 Majalis and 382 mourning processions on the day of Chehlum, in addition to the significant events marking the Urs of Data Ali Hajveri. In Lahore alone, 7,000 officers and personnel secured 44 Majalis and 5 processions, utilizing Safe City cameras, walkthrough gates, and metal detectors to maintain order and safety.

Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the proactive role of Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) in personally monitoring the security setups, especially at sensitive locations. The police also placed snipers at strategic points and established special control rooms for continuous monitoring of the events. The involvement of female officers in search and security operations for women attendees was a notable aspect of the comprehensive security strategy.

The IG highlighted the importance of fostering religious harmony and interfaith unity, attributing the peaceful proceedings to these efforts, and reinforcing the commitment of the Punjab Police to ensure the safety and harmony of such significant cultural and religious events.
