Punjab Revises Assistant Positions Amid Surplus Employee Reservations

Lahore: The Punjab Services and General Administration Department has revised the number of available Assistant (BS-16) positions after initially advertising 108 slots. The adjustment comes as nine positions have been set aside for surplus pool employees, affecting the distribution under the open merit category.

According to a statement by Public Service Commission Punjab, the revision reduces the open merit positions from 99 to 90. However, the allocations for women, minority, and special person quotas remain unchanged at two, five, and two positions, respectively.

The initial announcement, detailed in Consolidated Advertisement No. 14/2024, was published on July 19, 2024. The decision to reserve nine positions for surplus pool employees is outlined in Letter No. SOP-II (S and GAD) 12/(316)/15, dated January 15, 2025.

Despite these changes, other conditions of the original advertisement will remain the same. The revision underscores the department’s efforts to balance recruitment needs with the inclusion of surplus employees.
